Where can I buy this old panfish jig?

Dear Sir:

Years ago I used to buy small panfish jigs, they were little lizards, I use to buy them in bulk from a company in Texas. I've lost that address. The jigs were about 1 1/2 inches long and came in an assortment of colors. I'd put little "clothespin" wire formed spinners on with various colored jig heads. They drove crappie and perch crazy. The most popular color on the lake I fished was a white body with a red head. Do you have any idea where I could buy these jigs now?

James C. Weber

James:

The first place I would look is in Cabelas' big spring 2002 catalog. There are a zillion types of soft plastic crappie jigs in there. The second place would be Netcrafters catalog. You can usually find an ad for them in the classified sections of Sports Afield/ Field and Steam, etc. They may have a web site, too. Just use Google and search for them. You can also do a search on crappie jigs on Google and you'll find many sites, one of which may carry what you need.

I seem to recall something similar to what you describe and, yes, they were good for panfish. The little PERFECT jigs on my web site are the best I have found, but their body has no action when slowly retrieved. I expect that fluttering action is what you are looking for.

Good luck in your search.

Jim

A common question that we get: "Is there somewhere close to get bait and tackle?" This is where we get our bait.
