In river fishing, where are big bass most productive in hot weather?
Dear Jim,
Used to fish alot when I was younger and quit for awhile, now I'm getting back into it pretty good. I'd never fished a river before last year only creeks and the lakes, but never been very productive for big fish. Question: In river fishing, where are big bass most procutive in hot weather?
Cecil
Cecil:
Something you find is that pure river bass are seldom as large as their lake cousins. I am not sure why. Maybe they spend too much energy fighting river current flow and use up too much of their growth potential. But, the basic principles always hold true - the larger bass are nearly always in the shallow zones and around the thickest cover. Don't know why that is so true, but it sure seems to be factual, season after season. There is an article on my web site titled How to find trophy bass (http://www.jimporter.org/articles/finding.shtml). It has some good data on our many years of observations that may help, as well.

A common question that we get: "Is there somewhere close to get bait and tackle?" This is where we get our bait.
