Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon Area
Dear Jim,
In a couple of weeks I'm helping a scoutmaster take some kids on a night sharkfishing charter out of Melbourne. I thought I would take the opportunity to do a little fishing in that area and know nothing about the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon area. I found a county park where I can park my RV for a couple of days. It is just north of Sebastian inlet. Earnest is going with me in his boat so we can get around. Do you have any suggestions? Is there a better part of the river to fish than that area? Should we try the flats and inlet? All I know is what I read in the Sentinel so it isn't much. I'll also keep an eye on some of the websites that provide fishing reports for Sebastian Inlet.
I know you don't fish it much, if ever, but thought you might have some friends who keep you up to date.
Bob
Bob:
There is seasonal fishing for various things in and around the inlet. Trout are good now over grass down near Sebastian and Wabasso. Snook are doing well in the early morning and at night in the inlet and around the bridge. Most are using 6-10 inch mullet on free-line or bottom rigs.

A common question that we get: "Is there somewhere close to get bait and tackle?" This is where we get our bait.
