Power Trim
Dear Jim,
I am a complete boat rookie, just having purchased my first boat. I have a question about the power trim. My boat has a mercruiser alpha one i/o and the trim control has up, down, and trailer. I haven't got the boat in the
water yet, but the down switch works fine and the trailer switch brings
the motor back up, but when I push up on the 'up' switch, nothing happens. No
sound or anything. I put the key in and turned the accessories on to see
if it was a result of a safety feature or the like, but same result: nothing.
Does this sound like a 1)inline fuse (I don't know if I've got them for
the trim) 2) loose wire 3)bad pump (which I doubt because the engine comes up
when I hit trailer 4) operator head space and timing? Any advice would be
much appreciated.

Dan:
There is a relay in each circuit. It should look like a small square potted electronic piece, about 1 inch square. The one in the 'up' circuit is bad. When you find them, switch a couple around and the 'up' should work and the one you switched it from will be bad.
