Good Anchor for Aluminum Boat
Mr. Wizard,
I have a 17-foot aluminum bass boat. I have a good electric trolling motor. My problem is wind and fishing a given location. I use the Texas rig and Carolina rigs a lot, both rigs need lengthily time during the retrieve, during this the wind is blowing me off line causing drag on the line and rig. What type of anchor could I use for this type of boat, to hold position, easy up anchor and not too expensive.

Dear Gus:
A three fluke river anchor, around 12-15 lbs. should hold you well. Just be sure to use enough anchor rope to get an angle on the anchor. Should cost around $20 at Wally mart.
But, the big problem is the aluminum boat. The wind really does a number on them due to light weight and how high they sit in the water.
