I can be fished by anyone. The best method is to just retrieve me slowly and let the fish do the rest.
Tie a good ball-bearing snap swivel to the end of your line and put my line loop in the snap. Add a #4 split shot (or a 1/16 oz. slip sinker) above the swivel and I am ready to fish for you!
Simply fish me like a slow spinner bait around and over cover and objects. Hold your rod tip at 10:00 and let me run about 2-3 feet deep.
Since I am so non-threatening and easy for the fish to catch, fish do not strike me hard. Strikes feel like little 'taps'. If it is bass, my sharp hooks will catch him every time and he almost never gets off.
So, DO NOT set the hook on a strike; just wait until the line starts to tighten up and then raise your rod tip take the slack out. |
Do not 'horse' the fish in. My sharp hooks will not let him go unless YOU rip them out, so take your time and enjoy the fun.
For deeper fishing, vary the size of the weight. For sub-surface and buzzbait-style topwater fishing, take off the weight. But, ALWAYS use the same slow retrieve speed!
If I get torn, a touch of super glue or a lighter flame (watch my line!!) will seal me together. If my hooks are pulled out, just push them back in.
My super slow, bass attracting action is fixed by the arc molded into my body. There is no adjustment required!!
