OLD FISHIN' TIPSTER'S
TIPS AND TRICKS
Got a question about fishing, that you have never been able to figure out?
Well, along comes old Fishin' Tipster, Weekend Semi-Pro and resident backlash picking champion, with the solution.
Casting seems simple, but I really get messed up a lot doing it. Between bushes and the seat of my pants, Old Tipster has hooked a few things more than fish!
Here are a couple of great casting tips from Keith Mayberry.
"When throwing into the wind, drop your rod tip to the water immediately after making the cast. This will allow you to get more distance and will also get the slack out of your line in case you get bit just when the bait hits the surface (which often happens). If you leave the rod held high, the wind will make a large rainbow out of your line and you lose control of the bait, plus you will never feel that quick strike.
When throwing a Carolina Rig, I have learned to leave up to a foot of slack between the rod tip and the weight for better accuracy and distance. And, I found it best to catch and pull back on the line just before the weight and bait hit the water to keep the bait from wrapping around the main line ahead of the swivel/sinker.

A common question that we get: "Is there somewhere close to get bait and tackle?" This is where we get our bait.
