OLD FISHIN' TIPSTER'S
TIPS AND TRICKS

Got a question about fishing, that you have never been able to figure out?

Well, along comes old Fishin' Tipster, Weekend Semi-Pro and resident backlash picking champion, with the solution.

After a day of pickin' bottom slime off his 'stuff', you finally decided you need a way to keep those Carolina-rig plastics off the mucky bottom and above the grass? Is that what's troubling you, Boo-Boo?

Well, along comes old Fishin' Tipster, Weekend Semi-Pro and resident backlash picking champion, with a great solution.

Look at the accompanying photo. This is the Sliders Company's new 4-inch Tube Crawfish. Because it is hollow (like most tube lures), you can trim a piece of Styrofoam and slide it right into the body cavity, Boy, Howdy, does that make it float up off that bottom! Look at the rigged tube and note the way the hook is arranged. We don't want the hook inside the body cavity because it will tear the soft plastic and it might break up the foam chunk we added. So, we rigged it in the conveniently provided solid portion of the lure's head and then placed the hook point just under the 'skin' of the plastic.

If the head gets torn, simply hold it over a flame for a few seconds and it will melt right back together, ready to take the hook again. We caught 11 fish on just one of these lures before we had to dig into the bag for a new one.

A common question that we get: "Is there somewhere close to get bait and tackle?" This is where we get our bait.
