OLD FISHIN' TIPSTER'S
TIPS AND TRICKS
Got a question about fishing, that you have never been able to figure out?
Well, along comes old Fishin' Tipster, Weekend Semi-Pro and resident backlash picking champion, with the solution.
Tubes for Smallmouths:
The most popular way to catch smallmouth bass, when using artificials, is with a tube bait. Made famous by the Garland brothers out west, the tube is the perfect bait for smallies. Most popular colors are pumpkin/pepper, motor oil, clear/silver flake, firecracker or just about anything that looks like a crayfish or minnow. Generally fished with a 1/8 to ˝ oz. jig head in water 10' to 35' deep, the tubes natural swimming motion will take fish all season long. Tied to 6# to 10# small diameter lines like Berkley Ultra Thin, throw the tube out into deeper water and work up the drop off. Try working the tube with lots of action or just drag it on the bottom, and hang on. The tube bait is the perfect bait for you to try.
