Carolina Rigs for Smallmouths:
Another great way to fish for smallmouth or any other fish is with a Carolina rig. A heavy sinker and glass beads are first threaded onto the line. Next, tie on a swivel and tie on from 3 to 6 feet of leader material (usually the same lb. test as the main line). Tie on a size 2 to size 4 hook and put on your favorite live bait. The best ones are: soft-shell crayfish, small shiners, or jumbo leech. If you prefer to use a lure, try a 4-inch plastic worm for great results.
