Crank Plugging
Crank baits are most effective when they go banging into obstructions or the bottom. One saying has always been "bump the stump." Bumping the stump is what we might call saturation fishing. You just keep fan-casting in an area until you bump something. You might make three or four casts to the same stump until you make contact with it. Many times, bass will murder a crank bait after it strikes a stump or tree limb and runs off to the side. Keeping the lure in contact with the bottom at all times is also a rule.
