 You may really like a baitcasting outfit, but it can be the completely wrong 'tool' during windy weather. A spinning (or, even spincasting) is much easier to control and there is NO backlash problem. Spinning gear is also the best choice for tossing tubes and sinking plastics UNDER docks, boathouses and low-lying bushes. Finally, you actually can have BETTER control of a big fish with spinning gear than with any other setup. Simply disengage the anti-reverse on the spinning reel and learn to reel backwards, giving the fish line when necessary. Whereas, with a baitcasting setup you are completely at the mercy of the drag system, with spinning gear YOU are fully in charge of whether the fish gets to run or take line or not.
